Partners of the Cherokee National Forest worked with the City of Knoxville and numerous other partners to organize the Centennial Conservation Expo!  In celebration of 100 years of conservation in our region, multiple conservation partners, including Tennessee Wild, Foothills Land Conservancy, Outdoor Knoxville, Legacy Parks, TWRA, the Great Smoky Mountain National Park, and others are all working together to create an exciting and educational event3.

From September to November 1913, over a million people travelled to Chilhowee Park to learn about a new American conservation movement.  The Centennial Expo celebrated not only its historic significance, but, more importantly, our region’s ongoing commitment to conservation, preservation and sustainability.

The Expo included historical displays, photographs and films, hands-on demonstrations and exhibits, children’s activities, live entertainment, athletic competitions, multimedia presentations and events throughout the grounds of Chilhowee Park. Partners hosted an event earlier in the week in the Cherokee National Forest, and had a presentation and information available at the Expo.
